Description

The whole pinyin program lasts for 2 weeks, two 50-minute class perday (20 classes in total ). The program includs Pinyin introduction and intense work on pronunciation and listening .
The textbook consists of ten lessons. Lesson-1 provides a brief introduction to the standard Chinese phonetic system, and lessons 2 to 9 designed to teach the learner how to pronounce each sound through learning of the Pinyin system--21 initial consonants and 36 simple or compound vowels. Lesson 10 gives a brief introduction of the phonetic spelling rules for writing Chinese syllables and tone changes in the context of intonation patterns.

Goals

When the Pinyin program finished, learners should be able to read Pinyin and spell most of Chinese words simply by listening. Learners should also fully understand the Chinese Pinyin system and be able to use the system to pronounce and listen with confidence and pursue further language learning more effectively.
